Position Summary:
The Business Analyst plays a critical role in analyzing the companys financial performance, assessing financial risks, and recommending strategic improvements to strengthen the financial health of the organization. This role focuses on evaluating financial systems and cost structures to identify areas of vulnerability and opportunity. The analyst collaborates with finance, operations, and managing director to deliver risk-aware insights that enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and fiscal sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Investigate financial business data and proactively propose actions and solutions to improve companys financial performance.
Collaborate with management to support financial analysis, forecasting, performance monitoring, and strategic planning.
Provide proactive financial (risk) insights to guide operational and investment decisions.
Analyze and evaluate financial risks related to systems, reporting, and operational processes.
Design and improve financial systems to mitigate fiscal risk and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Assist in preparing consolidated financial reports for internal leadership and VDL Groep, ensuring risk transparency and data integrity.
Support de-complexing of business processes to enhance financial efficiency and reduce exposure to errors and fraud.
Evaluate internal controls, compliance with accounting standards (local GAAP and IFRS), and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Perform order administration reviews, cost analysis, and variance investigations (actual vs. standard costs).
Formally define and deconstruct business problems, gather data from multiple sources, and apply advanced risk modeling techniques.
Document business needs, financial system functionalities, and workflow improvements.
Evaluate existing systems for fiscal effectiveness and recommend or implement enhancements to improve outcomes and control exposure.
Partner cross-functionally with finance, IT, and production teams to monitor risk trends and escalate emerging issues.
Manage IT support to streamline workflows and data integration.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Advanced understanding of financial risk principles, cost control, and internal audit methodologies.
Strong analytical skills with experience in modeling risk scenarios and assessing controls.
Proficiency in utilizing financial analysis techniques and decision-support tools.
Effective communicator with the ability to explain risk-based findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Knowledge of business process mapping, workflow optimization, and compliance auditing.
Strong documentation and report writing capabilities.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple risk-driven projects.
Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting software.
Familiarity with regulations and reporting requirements under local GAAP and IFRS.
Commitment to continuous learning in financial technologies and risk methodologies.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business financial analyst or fiscal risk role.
Strong experience in manufacturing or industrial environments highly preferred.
Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and internal risk assessments.
Knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and variance reporting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles including local GAAP and IFRS.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (e.g., files, office equipment).
Ability to move around the facility and occasionally visit production areas, which may include walking and standing.
Must be able to concentrate and remain focused in an open office environment with potential distractions.
Occasional travel may be required for training or coordination with other VDL locations.
