Position Summary:
The Network Security Specialist is responsible for managing, securing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on network security, data protection, and system integrity. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and securing network devices, servers, and endpoints to prevent cyber threats while ensuring high network performance and reliability. The specialist will implement cybersecurity safeguards, conduct risk assessments, manage incident responses, and ensure regulatory compliance while working closely with IT staff to support disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

The initial salary for this position is firmly set at $69,840
260 Day Work Year
15 PAID holidays
20 Vacation Days, 5 Personal Days, 13 Sick Days, 2 Mental Health Days per fiscal year.
Full medical dental and vision benefits are effective the first day of employment with a monthly premium share of only $75.
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
At least three (3) years of experience in a technology-related role with a focus on networking and security.
Must hold a valid driver's license in the individual's state of residence.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related discipline.
Two (2) years of experience in K-12 education.
Certifications such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), CompTIA CySA+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or equivalent.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
Experience implementing and managing CIS Controls or NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365 security, network storage, and firewall administration.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Administer and secure LAN & WAN networks, including configuration, testing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security solutions, including iPads, MacBooks, Chromebooks, and Windows PCs.
Implement and maintain email security, anti-malware, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.
Ensure secure configurations of Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, O365, VoIP, and virtualization platforms.
Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and patch management for all network devices and systems.
Conduct regular risk assessments, security audits, and vulnerability management to identify and mitigate potential threats.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (CIS, NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and government regulations regarding data protection.
Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures tailored to the organization's needs.
Maintain data privacy controls to protect sensitive student, staff, and organizational data.
Develop, implement, and regularly test incident response and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate with IT staff to mitigate cyber threats, restore systems, and improve security protocols.
Conduct security awareness training for employees on phishing, social engineering, and best security practices.
Work closely with educational institutions and external organizations to enhance cybersecurity education.
Travel within the tri-county region as well as across the state as needed.
Perform any other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. Due to travel outside of the home office, candidates are required to have a vehicle and valid driver's license to attend job related duties, meetings, seminars, and trainings.
