Position Profile:
The Accounting Manager is to ensure that day-to-day accounting operations are running smoothly alongside with the Chief Financial Officer and Development Department. This is a position in the Finance department with heavy oversight on reconciliations and financial reporting.
Essential Responsibilities/expectations:
Review month end balance sheet accounts reconciliations and propose adjusting entries;
Prepare Financial Statements and analyze accounts variance;
Prepare journal entries;
Year End close and annual Audit including A133 Federal Audit;
Assist the CFO with annual budget preparation and review the annual budget input in the financial system;
Assist with federal grants reconciliations;
Prepare grant reports due to the funders;
Prepare quarterly program expense reports;
Prepare the 941 reconciliations and assist in the annual tax return preparation;
Prepare loan schedules and interest payments analysis;
Work closely with the Accounts Receivable accountant and the development team to reconcile the pledges;
Review AP vouchers for proper coding and expense allocations;
Assist HR with processing payroll.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's Degree a plus;
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in accounting with thorough understanding of A/P, A/R and G/L, reconciliations and audit;
Strong Knowledge and understanding of GAAP Accounting;
Knowledge of Federal Award processing and reporting is a plus;
Experience in non-profit accounting a plus;
Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel and MS Word required; experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus;
Creative problem solving skill, strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills with ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff and volunteers) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment;
Essential management and leadership skills;
Willingness to learn and carry out Bread for the City’s commitments to building a socially just, racially equitable, and gender affirming culture. Familiarity with Google Organization & Productivity Tools (Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar) and/or ability to learn new technology systems;
Due to needs for accurate financial data, develop backup plan for how tasks will stay on schedule/be completed on time in the event of scheduled or unscheduled absences;
Ability to manage and develop finance team members;
Others duties as requested from time-to-time by CFO.
