Job Summary:
The Controller ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, maintains internal controls, oversees general accounting functions, and supports departmental financial accuracy. This role also supports operational efficiency through some financial analysis and collaboration with the sales, operations, and supply chain teams. The Controller supports all ROI activities and provides analysis for capital purchases and investment opportunities and assists in Account Receivable reviews, collections, and customer credit determination.
Direct oversight of: Accounting Department Staff (3)
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis (20%): Oversee accurate and timely financial statements; analyze performance and present findings to executives. Ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place for decision-making.
Banking & Treasury Services (15%): Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and secure transactions, including ACH, wire transfers, and credit card reviews.
Support Margin reporting and alert leadership of anomalies (15%):
Policy, Procedures & Staff Development (15%): Improve departmental efficiency, develop new procedures, and manage or train accounting staff.
Product Costing (10%): Maintain accurate product costing in ERP system (Macola), including BOMs and cost rollups
Budget Preparation & Analysis (10%): Develop and analyze annual and rolling budgets, report on variances, and establish quarterly targets.
Annual Review & Internal Controls (10%): Ensure compliance with GAAP, review workflow documents, and provide technical accounting guidance.
Insurance, Acquisitions & Misc. Support (5%): Respond to financial inquiries, work with CPA firm on year-end review, and ensure corporate resources are well-managed.
Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and eight or more years of experience.
3+ years in and Accounting leadership role.
Three to five years of experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment doing some or all
aspects of the essential duties and responsibilities listed above; or equivalent combination of education
and experience in the above listed essential duties and responsibilities.
Our business operates on EOS business operating system. Previous experience with this system is a plus
but is not required.
Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
Proficiency in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and concepts.
Proficiency in using manufacturing ERP systems, including the following modules: product costing,
financial accounting, controlling, and forecasting. Preference for experience in Macola ERP system
Understanding of the laws and regulations within the accounting, distribution and manufacturing
industries.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Access.
On-the-job training may be required.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong financial and analytical abilities with the ability to collect, analyze, and present results in a concise
format.
Ability to work with complex data sources utilizing Microsoft Excel.
Great attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and execute responsibilities in a high volume, deadline-oriented
environment Willingness and adaptability to organize, implement, and perform quality work with
accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and governmental
regulations.
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Present information to and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Apply abstract concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
