TITLE: ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATOR (0.6 FTE, with consideration for additional 0.4)
TYPE OF POSITION: 0.6 non-union, middle school and high school athletic administrator position; salary commensurate with experience and education, eligible for benefits in line with offerings through the Town of Seekonk. The Athletic Administrator is a member of the District Leadership Team who administers all interscholastic activities at the high school and middle school levels. A flextime work schedule will facilitate the athletic director's ability to act as the onsite administrator and provide visibility after school hours and at athletic functions. In an effort to recruit highly qualified and committed candidates, Seekonk Public Schools will take under consideration any applicants' additional skills which may benefit the district in a 0.4 capacity in order to provide a 1.0 full time opportunity.

REPORTS TO: Relevant building principals and Superintendent of Schools
LOCATION: Seekonk Public Schools, with responsibilities at Seekonk High School (SHS) and Hurley Middle School (HMS)
NB: Athletic Administrator may not hold seasonal coaching positions within the district concurrent with administrative responsibilities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a coach.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Basic understanding of all sports and operational procedures.
A degree in Sports Management, Health Education, Physical Education, a related field or experience with athletic management.
Wide range of experience with student athletics across ages, genders, and skill levels.
Willingness to attend all state, regional, and local meetings pertaining to athletics and general, relevant operation of the schools(s).
Experience creating and overseeing a budget.
Experience with unified sports.
Knowledge of rules and procedures of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and athletic scheduling systems.
Licensed or eligible for licensure in a principal or supervisor capacity through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable. RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:
As a member of the district's administrative leadership team, collaborates with building leaders on the selection, assignment, reassignment, and evaluation of all athletic coaches.
Organizes and administers the overall athletic program.
Develops, recommends, and places into operation all appropriate rules and regulations related to the athletic program.
Prepares and administers the annual budget for the athletic program, ensuring equity, Title IX compliance, and a cycle for addressing long-term and capital needs.
Submits monthly reports to the Building Principals and Superintendent on the athletic revolving fund(s) listing current balances, credits, and line item expenditures.
Develops schedules for all interscholastic athletic teams at HMS and SHS, including determining when cancellation or postponement of contract contests is necessary because of non-playable conditions.
Fosters cooperative school/community relations by keeping the community aware of the athletic schedules.
Maintain, and support coaches in maintaining, a positive and visible social media presence to promote all athletics at HMS and SHS, including regular updates to the athletics website(s).
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the press.
Coordinates with the town the use of the town's athletic fields, gymnasiums, and turf field.
Schedules all officials, medical personnel, police, game personnel, game administrators, and assumes general responsibility for the supervision of all home contests. Priority expectations for athletic administrator attendance including all home varsity football and basketball games.
Develops and provides staff preparation for emergency procedures.
Develops a schedule, supervises, and evaluates the athletic trainer.
Develops a schedule, supervises, and evaluates the aquatics director.
Arranges all transportation with the Transportation Director.
Assumes responsibility for coordination of the cleaning, maintenance, inventory, and storage of all athletic equipment and supplies at HMS and SHS.
Prepares all requisitions for the purchase of supplies/equipment, payment of support personnel, officials, and coaches.
Responsible for the collection and depositing of all gate receipts, including the facilitation of online ticketing for athletic events.
Work with coaches to plan and conduct annual recognition programs, i.e. Senior Awards Night, signing days, seasonal banquets. Order all necessary athletic awards and communicate to parents and student athletes with appropriate lead time.
Implement and administer student-athlete leadership development activities.
Serves as liaison to the Athletic Boosters' Club.
Serves as Chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee.
Represents Seekonk at Massasoit League, South Coast Conference, district, and MIAA meetings.
Annually update the Coaches' Handbook and job descriptions for all coaching positions.
Conduct, with administration, pre-season coaches' meetings to review handbooks and expectations.
Ensures that all coaches, both paid and volunteer, have undergone CORI, SORI, and fingerprint background checks, and ensures that those checks remain current.
Ensure mandatory trainings, concussion protocol training, MIAA- and district-required trainings are completed prior to season start dates and update as needed.
Plan and conduct monthly meetings for coaching staff.
Annually update the Student Athletic Handbook.
Conduct orientation/information sessions for new students and parents as well as pre-season meetings for parents and coaches.
Responds to and communicates with parents of athletes regarding district athletic policy and procedures.
Implements academic and medical physical rules for all participants in the program.
Provides a schedule for the use and maintenance of the weight room.
Maintains adequate medical records issued by the nurse for all athletes including collection of information related to policies such as the Head Injury Policy.
With school administration, distributes and verifies academic eligibility for each athlete's participation in interscholastic sports.
Serves as liaison between student-athletes, coaches, and collegiate programs, ensures compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, and coordinates onsite visits by college coaches.
Conducts periodic inspection of all athletic facilities and reports needs through the custodial and maintenance system.
Participates in an MIAA-sponsored new Athletic Director's orientation program within the required timeline.
Oversee and maintain compliance with certifications and training regarding MIAA rules and regulations governing athletics.
Submits an end-of-year report which outlines the athletic accomplishments and establishes short- and long-range goals and objectives, along with any necessary recommendations for changes in policy or procedures via the Superintendent.
Attends School Committee meetings as directed by the Superintendent.
Other duties related to athletics as requested by administration.
Other duties relevant duties up to 0.4 FTE as negotiated, with accordant compensation.
Work Year: Dates negotiable as appropriate to MIAA seasons and school year.
Salary: Given the FTE range 0.6-1.0, $60,000-$125,000
