Job Title: Plumber II

Department: Maintenance - Correctional Facility

Reports To: Facility Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Plumber II performs preventive and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, etc., on all plumbing systems and components of the facility. This individual will maintain a high level of professionalism in addressing facility management issues, including responding to and resolving any client requests or concerns.

Essential Functions:

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing issues throughout the facility

Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing issues throughout facility

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on roof drain and storm drain systems

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler system and equipment

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on domestic hot and cold water systems and equipment

Performs corrective/preventive maintenance on facility sewage systems

Responsible for all required inspections on plumbing systems and components. Includes backflows, fire hydrants, fire pumps, water heaters and other pressure vessels, pressure valves, etc.

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on natural gas supply and distribution lines, or other fuel source systems

Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on steam systems and equipment

Respond to On-Call emergency repair work or after hours

Complete corrective/preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner Other Functions:

Attend and actively participate in staff/safety meetings

Maintain all logs per ACA requirements as applicable

Open, document action taken, and close on demand and preventative maintenance work requests using a PC and PDA

Perform other assignments as needed and/or assigned

Must be able to work flexible hours

Coordinate outside contractors for contract work on associated systems Competencies:

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Maintain correct and accurate record keeping

Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills

Experience in leading the project management process

Proven record of providing excellent customer service

Thorough knowledge of the methods of the installation and repair of plumbing systems

Knowledge of the safety precautions of the plumbing trade, skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in the performance of plumbing work

Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics for associated systems Technical Skills:

Understand and abide by all applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS) procedures

Understand and abide by all Lock Out Tag Out procedures

Possess a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PDA Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required

High school diploma, or equivalent

A minimum of 3-6 years of professional experience relative to the role. Preferred

Licensing in applicable trade and jurisdiction

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with normal working hours Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. However, as business needs become necessary, after-hours, holidays, or weekends may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory duties for this position.

Work Environment

This position is located within a correctional facility. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. Must be able to work in hazardous conditions while maintaining safety standards, work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, industrial settings, and construction sites, and work in loud environments and temperature extremes.

Essential functions of this position require: manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate, lifting, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking, climbing (including but not limited to ladders), crawling, stooping, turning/twisting, balancing, reaching with varying frequencies.

Heavy work: Occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, Frequent lifting and carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds.

Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.

The employee is regularly required to talk or listen effectively.
