Description

Alamance Community College (ACC) seeks a dynamic, innovative, and proven leader to serve as its next Vice President of Instruction. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Vice President of Instruction is the Chief Academic Officer. This position serves on the President's Executive Leadership Team. The Vice President of Instruction will work closely with the academic deans, directors, and others to grow the academic enterprise's curricula, enrollment, and overall quality.

Founded in 1958, ACC is the 16th largest of North Carolina's 58 community colleges, enrolling approximately 12,000 curriculum and continuing education students annually. The College is located within the Piedmont-Triad Region in beautiful Alamance County, which is situated between Greensboro to the west and Chapel Hill and Durham to the east.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of innovation, achievement, curriculum development, enrollment growth and student success and retention. This individual must have a demonstrated record of success in building effective programs and partnerships, and garnering support from a sizeable constituency base.

Serves as the College's Chief Academic Officer.

Provides visionary leadership and evaluation related to the quality, relevancy and growth of the College's academic programs and partnerships.

Directs and coordinates activities within the academic divisions, including Applied Engineering, Agriculture and Skilled Trades, Business, Arts and Sciences, and Health and Public Services.

Provides leadership to ensure the quality and relevance of academic programs and alignment to workforce needs.

Maintains programs of study to ensure compliance with the North Carolina Community College System curriculum standards.

Provides leadership to identify professional development opportunities that support quality instruction and innovative teaching techniques.

Works with the internal and external campus communities (i.e. senior leadership, deans, department heads, industry, advisory boards, community partners and other stakeholders) to identify new program opportunities and ensure the relevancy of existing academic programs.

Works closely with the Associate Vice-President for Workforce Engagement to develop educational and training programs that reflect the workforce needs of area business and industry and support economic development.

Establishes and grows partnerships with K-12 and four-year institutions (i.e. articulation, reverse articulation, co-admission agreements, etc.).

Facilitates the growth of enrollment of non-traditional-age college students.

Monitors enrollment, FTE, fill rates and faculty loads to ensure optimal course offerings.

Uses data to guide new and existing programs and create a vision for future programs.

Responsible for the academic budget (i.e. requests for technology, equipment, space, personnel, etc.) in collaboration with academic deans and department heads.

Serves on college standing committees (i.e. Curriculum, Strategic Planning).

Serves as liaison to accrediting agencies of academic programs.

Serves as the college's primary liaison to the NCCCS on all instructional matters.

Advises the President and Senior Vice President on academic, budgetary, and personnel matters pertaining to curriculum programs. Typical Qualifications

Required Education:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university, doctorate preferred. Required Experience:

Teaching in a college discipline, community college preferred

Seven years of progressive responsibility in higher education administration.

Proven success in leading people, managing change, strategic planning, measuring results and effective budgeting in a complex work environment. Typical Qualifications

Understanding and commitment to the mission and principles of community colleges.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, doctorate degree preferred.

Commitment to using data to support informed decision-making processes.

Proven ability to develop successful strategies for enrollment growth, student success, and student retention.

Highly developed collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to interpret and understand laws, statutes, rules, and regulations and apply them in the best interest of students and the College.

Demonstrated ability to inform the planning and assessment of a growing portfolio of programs and corresponding operational and capital budgets.
