PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Senior Process Engineer is a high-impact position that will develop, maintain & document robust manufacturing & fill/assembly procedures based on formulation & equipment, lead in the making of pilot, first production & validation batches, and participate in line trials. will provide guidance, support and leadership to other Process Engineers, Jr Process Engineers, and Technical Report Writers and develop a focused effort to continual process improvements. Provide engineering services for pilot batches, validation, and commercial product support and capital projects.

Candidate must have experience with colloid chemistry and have manufacturing experience with lotions, creams, and gels.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Liaise between R&D, Manufacturing and Quality Control to ensure product integrity and quality

Develop, maintain & document manufacturing & filling procedures

Work closely with R&D Chemists to transpose lab batch process to manufacturing batch process

Validate & approve manufacturing procedures in ERP system

Work closely with manufacturing to maximize efficiency, repeatability & assist with training

Primary representative for pilots, first production & validation batch & fill processing

Support filling operations, as needed

Develop individuals in our process engineering department.

Active participant in of pilot batch life cycle - Maintain pilot status/prepare for production meetings

- Prepare blending, filling and packaging Batch Records

- Observe and optimize blending and filling of pilot batches

Provide engineering (technical) support for commercial production problems (product manufacturing/packaging and/or equipment)

Develop/write/execute protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for equipment and product validation

Designs and implements manufacturing processes, equipment (from pilot to fully operational) for complex products

May supervise/direct/train entry level engineers

Develops and approves technical specifications for equipment purchase and validation

Makes decisions with designated assignments that influence the goals of the department

Interacts regularly with senior technical peers and colleagues

Demonstrates leadership skills (project team leader, project manager, technical supervisor, etc.)

Completes assignments in more than one functional area (process, project, etc.)

Other functions as required QUALIFICATION:

Required • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Engineering.

• 5 + years' experience in Chemical Manufacturing

• Background in or working knowledge of chemical manufacturing industry

Preferred Additional

Background in or working knowledge of Pharmaceutical industry and cGMP' preferable

Contract Manufacturing Experience

High volume enterprise

Demonstrates strong technical and/or regulatory expertise and ability to adapt to changing circumstances

Excellent communication skills

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment including a respirator, gloves, and eye protection

Mental and visual skills are required as operations need to perform work dealing primarily with preparing/analyzing data and figures.

Ability to perform work in a manufacturing environment where there is exposure to occupational hazards.

Must be able to work extended hours on evenings and weekends as required.

Employee must be punctual and on time.

Must be capable of detailed record keeping and communicating results to others. COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to operate the following office equipment: computer, telephone, photocopier, facsimile, and calculator

Power Point, Word, Excel and a basic understanding of Microsoft media applications is required. Education and/or Training

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, REQUIRED

MS Degree in Chemical Engineering, Highly Desired PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift and maneuver 40 pounds.

Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time.

Must be able to wear personal protection equipment which includes gloves and respirator, when required.
