Job Summary
The Commercial Refrigeration Application Design Engineer is responsible for the design and development of new refrigeration products and systems. This role is critical in enhancing product performance, reducing costs, and delivering value-driven solutions in commercial refrigeration. The ideal candidate will be innovative, detail-oriented, and possess strong technical knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead new product development projects and implement value enhancements for refrigerated merchandisers.
Design refrigeration systems for both self-contained and remote display case models.
Ensure system designs comply with applicable agency standards (e.g., UL, CSA, NSF).
Collaborate on writing and maintaining file reports and technical documentation.
Provide engineering support to resolve production issues and improve manufacturing processes.
Investigate and troubleshoot field service issues related to refrigeration systems and installations.
Assist with mechanical design and the construction of engineering prototypes for performance testing. Required Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration engineering principles.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical schematics.
Hands-on mechanical aptitude, including system installation and repair.
Familiarity with electrical wiring and control circuit design.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and external stakeholders. Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in refrigeration or HVAC/R design in commercial or industrial environments.
Proficiency in working with regulatory compliance standards (UL, CSA, NSF).
