Your Challenge:
This position will have a strong emphasis on product development support by means of materials modifications, updating designs and drawings
Prepare working plans, drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings of moderately complex components and assemblies
Translate mark-ups or redlines into revised drawings
Read and understand specifications and make adjustment to drawings or specifications as needed.
Verify completed work by checking dimensions, materials, quantities to be used, etc.
Collaborate with PacStar engineering team to ensure efficient data sharing
Other duties as assigned:
Working with Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Hardware groups to assist with assembly process, problem solving and fixture design. Use available tools (vertical shaft knee mill, 3D printer, etc.) to test proof of concept parts and make iterative changes as needed.
Rework small quantity prototype parts as needed per assembly or engineering team member requests. These tasks often fall under the category of “Product Refinement” or “Development,” meaning that several small changes may be necessary to achieve the final solution or direction.
Assist with validation testing of products.
What You Bring
3+ years' experience using CAD/CAM to design engineering components and assemblies.
Strong working knowledge of CAD software. SolidWorks experience is required.
Strong background in manufacturing processes and metal fabrication, machining & 3D Printing, desirable.
Familiarity with materials sourcing, (i.e. DigiKey, McMaster-Carr, etc.)
Ability to create working plans and complete drawings of moderately complex components from verbal discussions as well as rough and detailed engineering sketches.
Strong attention to detail to ensure designs are accurate according to specifications.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with members of engineering team.
Time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and competing deadlines.
Knowledge of engineering practices and industry standards.
