Job Description Summary: The director of government relations provides leadership to support the creation and implementation of OhioHealth's government relations strategy and advocacy agenda.

This position is responsible for providing advocacy, leadership and developing collaborative partnerships with public officials and public health entities in the communities served by OhioHealth.

The position is responsible for communicating and monitoring on public policy, legislation and regulations that could impact OhioHealth, its physicians and other health care professionals.

Responsibilities And Duties: 30% Provides leadership to support the creation and implementation of OhioHealth's government relations strategy and advocacy agenda.

Provides monitoring and surveillance on health care policy, legislation and regulations that could impact the health care industry at the local, state and federal levels of government.

Responsible for researching legislation, regulation and rules that impacts OhioHealth's public policy agenda.

25% Responsible for communication activities related to government relations and advocacy efforts.

Including, but not limited to, government relations web page on OhioHealth intranet, government relations newsletter and care site/business unit briefings on advocacy and public policy strategy.

25% Cultivates and stewards meaningful and sustainable relationships and collaborative partnerships with public officials, public health organizations and other external stakeholders that help advance OhioHealth business goals and mission.

15% Responsible for managing a team of External Affairs associates focused on local government relations and community engagement.

5% Provides oversight on Federal Elections Commission reports and State of Ohio Campaign Finance Reports.

File lobbying forms with the Joint Legislative Ethics Committee and the City of Columbus.

Provides support to contract counsels to assist them with their state & federal reporting requirements.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (Required) Additional Job Description: Degree in Political science, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or Journalism.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Must have senior level health care and Ohio Medicaid public policy Experience . Ability to understand public policy and government structures.

Experience in dealing with public officials, legislative and rulemaking processes.

Five years Experience in government affairs or a public government entity related to health care public policy.
