The Economic Development Division plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the economic vitality of North Carolina by overseeing a range of programs tailored to meet the needs of businesses and industries statewide.
Since the establishment of the Community College System in 1963, providing specialized training for businesses and their employees has been a foundational element of the state's economic strategy.
The Division supervises key programs such as NC Edge Customized Training, BioNetwork, Apprenticeship NC, and the Small Business Center Network, all of which directly contribute to the growth and expansion of industries, particularly in high-demand sectors like advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and information technology.

The Executive Assistant I provides essential administrative and operational support to the Vice President of Economic Development and other senior leaders within the Economic Development Division.
This role is responsible for managing complex calendars, coordinating travel arrangements, overseeing meeting logistics, and handling key documentation such as reports, contracts, and project letters.
The position requires independent judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage tasks across multiple leaders and departments.
Additionally, the Executive Assistant serves as a liaison between internal staff, external stakeholders, and the public, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to the success of economic development initiatives in North Carolina.

* Experience preparing, formatting, and editing formal documents including contracts, reports, and project correspondence in alignment with organizational and legal standards.

* Familiarity with state government administrative procedures, procurement processes, and document retention protocols.
* Demonstrated experience using travel booking systems and processing expense reimbursements in accordance with state or organizational policies.

Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
