Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Team, a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI.
You will use your recognized expertise in identified research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics, particularly and including areas such as large langauge models, reinforcement learning.
You will have influence and impact through keen interests in producing new science to understand intelligence and technology to make computers more intelligent.
Responsibilities:
Fundamental AI Research Scientist - FAIR (PhD) Responsibilities:
Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines
Design, develop, and apply machine learning algorithms to model complex social phenomena, including human social interactions, cognition, and behavior.
Work towards long-term research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones
Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications
Contribute research that can be applied to Meta's product development
Open source high quality code and produce reproducible research
Design and evaluate novel architectures for socially aware agents that can learn from human social interactions, adapt to changing social contexts, and exhibit advanced social intelligence in dynamic scenarios.
Qualification and experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science or a similar field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
First-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences, such as ICML, NeuRIPS, ICLR, ACL, and/or EMNLP or similar.
Research background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational statistics, applied mathematics, or related areas.
Experience in developing and debugging in Python or similar programming languages.
Experience communicating research for public audiences of peers.
Experience in theoretical and empirical research and for addressing research problems
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred:
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government labs, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research
Experience collaborating in a team environment on research projects.
Research and engineering experience demonstrated via publications, grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, open source code, or coding competitions.
Experience holding a postdoctoral, faculty, industry, or government researcher position
