Workdays/Hours: Monday Friday / 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Position is devoted to providing custodial services through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Incumbents perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions, requiring minimal prior training or experience. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and limited decision-making, restricted to choosing and safely using the proper work tools. As assigned, work may include an assignment to any City department performing maintenance activities and projects that include cleaning facilities and/or equipment; basic maintenance of equipment; providing customer service; and keeping records and reporting maintenance needs to higher authority that fall outside of the scope of the work assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities
Provide janitorial, housekeeping and custodial functions for multiple City buildings and/or recreation centers
Cleaning and maintaining floors
Emptying trash
Dusting
Sanitizing bathrooms
Cleaning mirrors and windows
Replenishing sanitation items
Setting up and breaking down facilities for special events
Inspecting equipment and reporting issues
Generating work orders
Opening and closing facilities
Pressure washing surfaces and buildings
Cleaning outdoor facilities
Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience performing custodial or janitorial services.
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.

Experience sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces.
Experience operating floor care equipment, such as burnishers, auto scrubbers and carpet extractors.
Experience providing custodial services in a commercial building.
