The Cybersecurity Analyst I, under general supervision, performs tasks related to the execution of enterprise-wide cybersecurity policies and initiatives; responds to security alerts, service requests, and incidents; conducts audits of information systems, analyzes, prepares reports of findings, and recommends corrective actions related to security activities and compliance; administers system access controls.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

Working location is based out of the Technology Center located on the Canyon Hills High School campus - 5156 Santo Rd, San Diego, CA

There are two (2) full-time openings scheduled for 40 hours per week, 12-months per year

This is a promotional/open opportunity, which means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.

Examples of Duties

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

E = Essential Functions

Monitor the implementation of enterprise cybersecurity policies and initiatives to ensure compliance with the goals of Integrated Technology (IT) leadership, District policies, and industry recognized cybersecurity best practices. E

Respond to cybersecurity incidents with immediate remedial action and/or escalate to the appropriate IT team member. E

Review log files, security information and event management (SIEM) tools, and network activity for abnormal activity; analyze data to identify the cause. E

Perform vulnerability scanning and penetration testing of IT systems and assist with remediation of vulnerabilities. E

Perform eDiscovery and other computer-based investigations; conduct and coordinate confidential investigation activities with staff and law enforcement agencies, as required. E

Conduct audits of cybersecurity practices and compliance with policies and procedures within IT and other departments; analyze processes; draft reports of findings and recommend corrective actions. E

Provide security guidance during implementation, maintenance, and updates of new systems. E

Provide technical assistance and training to District staff. E

Administer and monitor user account provisioning, deprovisioning, and access rights across multiple systems and applications; process, approve, and/or reject system access requests in accordance with established policies and procedures; conduct audits and analyses of user accounts and access permissions. E

Maintain identity management systems and related infrastructure. E

Implement role-based access control (RBAC) to ensure appropriate access levels for users within enterprise systems and applications. E

May operate assigned components of a large complex network and server infrastructure which may include firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), SIEM, internet content filtering, virtual private network (VPN), and similar systems.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, network security, information systems, computer science, or a related field and two (2) years of recent, progressively responsible experience in an information systems security, server administrator, network operations, or related role.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Possession of one or more of the following certifications is desired: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), (ISC) 2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), (ISC) 2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC), GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).
