As a Tax Controversy Services (TCS) Associate Attorney, you will represent a wide range of small and mid-size companies defending their rights against government (state and federal) challenges. This role is a unique opportunity to leverage and enhance your litigation skills in a client-centric environment, often requiring you to engage and work with C-level executives and other senior-level professionals. You will learn a tremendous amount concerning numerous industries and business operations across the country

Responsibilities:

Evaluate evidence, develop realistic evaluations of cases, and position our clients to ensure the best opportunity for success

Develop and implement strategies to best represent clients in federal and/or state examinations

Gather, review, and analyze required and necessary documentation in response to requests from federal and/or state government

Draft and prepare information for presentation to the federal and/or state government

Prepare witnesses and participate in client interviews with the federal and/or state government

Prepare and present client cases before federal and/or state government

Conduct legal research and draft memorandum and other documents to be submitted to the federal and/or state government

Serve as the main point of contact between clients and the federal and/or state government and provide exceptional client service

Manage and maintain client relationships and collaboratively work with multi-disciplinary teams in a constructive fashion to drive results

Qualifications

JD or equivalent, and active license to practice law in any state

Preferred 2 years of experience as an attorney with the ability to maintain own docket

Litigation experience is preferred including experience in depositions and trial preparation/participation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly professional, competitive, and collaborative

Strong aptitude, highly motivated, and career minded

High sense of urgency with the ability to meet deadlines and changing priorities

Receptiveness to performance feedback within a team environment is essential

Available to travel 15-25% within the United States

Candidate must reside or relocate to Houston, TX
