Role Requires Local Presence (Norfolk, VA Commuting Distance)

This role requires the ability to be onsite in the Norfolk, VA area, potentially on short notice, to handle physical tasks, emergency support, and direct interaction with client infrastructure.

Location: Norfolk, VA (Primarily remote with on-call onsite requirements)

Note: This position that is expected to begin on 7/15/2025, pending contract award. Requirements:

Job Summary: The On-Call Infrastructure Specialist will provide expert support for server and storage environments for critical infrastructure clients in the Norfolk, VA area. This role involves managing both physical and virtualized server infrastructure (57+ servers), as well as hybrid storage solutions, often requiring onsite intervention for hardware-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-call support for server and storage related incidents, including hardware failures, performance degradation, and capacity issues.

Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers (Windows, Linux).

Manage and maintain hybrid storage solutions (on-premise SAN/NAS and cloud storage components).

Conduct OS patching, system hardening, and performance tuning.

Implement and manage backup and recovery solutions for server workloads.

Perform onsite hardware maintenance, upgrades, and replacements at client locations in Norfolk, VA.

Collaborate with application owners and network teams to ensure infrastructure stability and performance.

Maintain documentation for server and storage configurations.

Required Qualifications:

3-5+ years of experience in server administration and storage management.

Strong experience with Windows Server environments; Linux experience is a plus.

Proficiency with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).

Experience with SAN/NAS technologies and hybrid cloud storage concepts.

Understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles.

Ability to perform physical hardware installation and troubleshooting.

Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Norfolk, VA for onsite tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA: Windows Server, VCP-DCV, CompTIA Server+).

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) for IaaS.

Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash).
