Job Description
The Operational Control Center Specialist (OCS) is responsible for coordinating and following to conclusion all aspects of Life Flight Network (LFN) aviation transports in conjunction with Communication Specialists, established protocols and procedures and with safety as the highest priority. The OCS is responsible for succinctly and professionally communicating with flight crew, weather services, communications centers, hospitals, FBOs, and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent
FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certification preferred
Knowledge of FAA and other regulatory requirements
Previous air medical pilot or dispatch experience required
Must be able to respond quickly and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining a professional demeanor
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
Ability to pass written and practical testing upon completion of required training
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure safe and efficient dispatch of aircraft
Continuous monitoring of weather for all regions LFN services
Provide weather updates to flights in progress
Completes preflight risk assessment and verifies compliance on all submitted risk assessments prior to aircraft departure
Coordinates services needed for flights in progress (fuel, hangar space, flight authorizations thru restricted areas)
Obtain and accurately relay necessary information to LFN aircraft
Remain at console while any LFN aircraft has rotors or propellers spinning or any flight crew is on standby
Remain on duty until relief is briefed and ready to begin shift
As events occur, accurately, completely, uniformly, and legibly records all aspects of service requests within the electronic dispatch software and/or on the appropriate forms
Understand and utilize all appropriate features of radio, telephone equipment and other equipment updates as they are installed
Understand and utilize available mapping resources necessary for plotting service-request locations
Proactively maintain thorough familiarization with geographical areas served by LFN
Verify accuracy of all FAA documents and maintain records for required period as defined by the FAA
