Title: Machinist

Location: Milwaukee, WI (On-Site)

Salary: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00

Job Summary:

The Machinist role is responsible for setup, operation, and programming of computer numerically controlled and manual machines to repair or build tooling in support of production. Reports to lead machinist and/or toolmaker and the toolroom supervisor.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

· Transports raw materials and piece parts to and from assigned work areas.

· Performs workpiece and machine setups.

· Interprets tool drawings and setup sheets to repair or fabricate tool components.

· Programs at the machine control to make or repair tool components as needed, leverages macros, canned cycles, and conversational programming.

· Setup wearable machining tools per setup sheets or as needed.

· Runs programs to produce components. Dry runs and proves out programs as needed.

· Adjusts cutting parameters as needed.

· Monitors condition of wearable machining tools and tool life. Replaces tools as needed.

· Measures and gauges tool components using various devices to verify process conformance and / or that tool components are made to print or made to fit as directed.

· Calibrates and regularly verifies calibrations of manual and automatic measuring tools including tool-setters and probes. Sets up automatic measuring tools as needed.

· Transports tool component workpieces in and out of metal removal machinery and measuring devices.

· Produces setup sheets for proven programs as needed and saves to shop backup.

· Performs Preventative Maintenance as needed at workstations, including daily maintenance and regularly cleans operated machinery after use or as needed to preserve serviceability.

· Keeps the work area neat and organized.

· Promotes a safe work environment.

· Performs miscellaneous duties as needed.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

· Journeyman Machinist or equivalent (4+ years applicable, verifiable experience).

· 5 axis experience preferred.

· Precision Grinding experience preferred.

· Wire and/or sinker EDM experience preferred.

· Die cast and/or stamping tool building experience preferred.

· The ability to understand and influence others using strong communication skills preferred.
