Job Description
Job Summary:
With little or no assistance, the CNC Machinist/Programmer will operate CNC machines and conventional machines to produce complex aerospace parts demonstrating advanced cross training flexibility. They will have experience with most, if not all automated CNC machines and their operational capabilities.
Essential Functions:
Fully operate multiple machines as needed, including CNC and conventional machines
Perform pre-operational inspections
Studies blueprints, manuals, dispatch specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements
Perform complex set ups without assistance on multiple machines; checking or changing chucking jaws, tools, rotating off sets, etc.
Operates sit down forklift to retrieve parts and load them onto racks
Utilize cranes and hoists to load and unload parts from racks onto machines
Operate machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings and programmed controls
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
Calculates and sets controls to regulates machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required Verifies conformance of finished workpieces to specifications
Track time on each function or task by maintaining time records on BAMC
