COUNSELOR-1 JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

Essential Functions
Conduct intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork with patients.
Document patient progress through counseling and group interactions.
Complete psychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans in a timely manner.
Identify and address clinical and case management needs.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling as needed.
Engage in direct one-on-one patient contact weekly.
Report any instances of patient abuse, neglect, or grievances as required.
Educate patients on treatment, health issues, and recovery steps.
Obtain Urine Drug Screens and initial patient identification.
Monitor patient activities on center premises.
Participate in community relations activities as directed.
Ensure understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual.
Maintain compliance with confidentiality regulations (42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA).
Obtain and maintain proper licensure and certification as per state requirements.
Prepare for surveys and inspections by relevant agencies.
Participate in all staff meetings and uphold company policies.
Act in the best interests of the program and protect proprietary data.
Perform other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Experience in the substance abuse field is preferred but not required.
Qualified candidates will have a degree, certification, or relevant experience.
CAP certification is preferred.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 500 hours in the substance abuse field.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and demonstrate reliability.
Basic mathematics skills.
