SR. Project Manager
Position Overview
The construction Sr.Project Manager will plans and supervise a wide range of solar construction projects from start to finish. This position will organize and oversee solar construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner, with a main goal of ensuring all projects are delivered on time according to the requirements and without exceeding budget.
The Construction Project Manager will possess in-depth knowledge of construction methodologies and procedures and demonstrates the ability to effectively coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, including Construction Managers, Solar Installation Technicians, and Safety Personnel—to deliver optimal project outcomes. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical thinking with outstanding organizational skills.
Other requirements include but are not limited to, the ability to organize and manage multiple solar projects effectively, manage cost control systems, review and analyze plans, facilitate the bidding/negotiations/buyout process with a general contractor, review all forms of requests for information (RFI’s), examine and negotiate change orders, and review and comment on submittals. The successful candidate must be highly skilled in budgeting and scheduling with strong verbal and writing skills.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with clients, operations management, and stakeholders to define project scope, specifications, and key deliverables, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Negotiate contracts with external vendors and subcontractors to secure competitive, profitable agreements that meet quality and timeline requirements.
Assess and determine project resource requirements—including labor, equipment, and materials—while maintaining strict adherence to budgetary constraints.
Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, breaking down operations into phases to ensure critical milestones and final deadlines are consistently met.
Oversee the procurement of equipment and materials, monitoring inventory levels to proactively address potential shortages or delays.
Recruit, onboard, and assign responsibilities to contractors and internal personnel to ensure optimal workforce allocation and productivity.
Supervise and provide guidance to site managers, laborers, mechanics, and other team members, fostering collaboration and high performance.
Assist Teams with training and development activities. Hires and Trains project managers in job function and provides additional support for development and training of team members
Seeks to resolve client issues to avoid legal actions by collaboration with the Director of Contracts and Compliance.
Evaluate project progress against KPIs such as on-time completion rate, budget variance, resource utilization, and safety performance; generate detailed reports for stakeholders.
Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, proactively identifying and reporting risks to maintain a safe and incident-free work environment.
Qualifications
Education: Undergraduate University degree or higher in Construction Management, Project Management Civil Engineering, or equivalent. Other relevant education, training, or work experience may substitute for bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 5 years of construction management is required, with at least 2 years in the solar industry.
Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external resources and stakeholders.
Self-directed and able to function with ease as part of a team.
Technically astute and strategic in thinking.
Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to focus on details as required and have the ability to work well within a deadline-driven environment.
Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Microsoft Office tools, and some knowledge of applicable project management software.
Knowledge of Smartsheet and Acumatica is a plus.
PMP or equivalent certification is a plus and strongly encouraged.
Physical Requirements
Stand or walk for long periods of time.
Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
This position is in office 4 days per week.
