Position Summary:
The Front Counter Clerk – Licensing and Reconciliation serves as the first point of contact for the public at the county Treasurer’s Office. This position is responsible for processing payments, issuing licenses, such as dog and fishing licenses), collecting taxes from the public and tax collectors, and performing daily financial reconciliation including balancing a checkbook and preparing deposit summaries. The role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and basic accounting knowledge. Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Provide front counter customer service to the public in a courteous and professional manner
Issue licenses, permits, and receipts for payments including taxes, dog licenses, and fishing licenses
Accept and process payments in cash, check, or electronic form
Maintain accurate records of transactions and licenses issued
Collect and reconcile daily revenue, balance the office checkbook, and prepare bank deposits
Work with tax collectors to receive and record collected tax payments
Assist with basic bookkeeping and data entry in treasury systems
Perform end-of-day cash drawer balancing and reconcile discrepancies
Answer phone inquiries and assist customers with licensing and tax related questions
Ensure compliance with county policies and procedures related to licensing and revenue collection
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in cash handling, customer service, or clerical/accounting work
Basic understanding of accounting and financial reconciliation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to interact with the public in a professional and friendly manner
