Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Designer/Drafter

Location: Beverly, MA

Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Pay: $75,000 – $90,000 (based on experience)

Hours: Monday–Friday, standard business hours

Travel: Up to 10% (domestic and international)

Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview:

We are hiring a Sr. Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support the design and documentation of precision gearing and electromechanical systems for a cutting-edge motion control company. If you’re a SolidWorks pro with extensive detailing experience and GD&T knowledge, this is your opportunity to contribute to technically sophisticated projects in a high-performance team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Design & Documentation:

Design mechanical/electromechanical systems to meet customer specs.

Create 2D/3D drawings and technical documentation in SolidWorks.

Apply GD&T to ensure parts meet tolerance and function requirements.

Design custom fixtures for test and assembly functions.

Collaboration:

Work closely with Purchasing and Manufacturing to source components.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams on production and design.

Mentor junior designers and support process improvements.

Documentation & ERP:

Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in ERP and drawing packages.

Follow and improve internal design and documentation procedures.

Ensure alignment with ASME, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards.

Requirements:

8+ years experience in mechanical design/drafting for industrial products.

Associate Degree in CAD, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.

SolidWorks certification preferred.

GD&T certification preferred.

Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5, inspection methods, and tooling.

Hands-on familiarity with motion control or power transmission products a plus.

Ability to manage multiple design projects and communicate clearly with vendors and internal teams.

ERP experience and strong Microsoft Office skills.

Work Environment:

Office-based with access to an engineering lab and shop floor.

Mix of seated computer work and physical tasks (walking, reaching, lifting).

Steel-toe boots may be required on shop visits.
