Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Senior Compensation Analyst to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate plays a key role in designing, analyzing, and administering compensation programs to attract, motivate, and retain talent. This role will also lead the design and administration of recognition programs that align with the company's overall business objectives and promote a culture of performance and engagement. The Senior Compensation Analyst will collaborate with HR, finance, and leadership teams to ensure competitive and equitable pay structures, as well as innovative and impactful recognition initiatives.
The Senior Compensation Analyst will report to the Vice President, Human Resources and will be expected to work on-site five days a week in our Somerset, NJ office.
Key Responsibilities:
Compensation Strategy & Design:
Assist in developing and implementing compensation strategies, policies, and programs that align with organizational goals.
Collaborate with HR leadership to ensure competitive pay structures that attract and retain top talent.
Partner with leaders and HR partners to develop and maintain job descriptions. Prepare job evaluations based on job descriptions and slot into salary bands.
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct salary benchmarking and market analyses to assess the competitiveness of the organization's pay structure.
Analyze industry compensation trends to recommend adjustments or improvements to the current compensation system.
Perform pay equity analysis and ensure internal equity across the organization.
Recognition Program Development:
Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of employee recognition programs that motivate, engage and retain employees. Develop innovative recognition strategies, including peer-to-peer recognition, service awards, spot bonuses, and non-monetary rewards.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, leadership, and department heads) to align recognition programs with company values and culture.
Evaluate the effectiveness of recognition programs through employee feedback, surveys, and data analysis to ensure they meet organizational goals.
Manage recognition platforms and tools to ensure smooth operation and engagement across the organization.
Data Management & Reporting:
Prepare and present regular compensation reports for leadership to support decision-making.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date compensation data is maintained and analyzed.
Monitor and track the compensation budget to ensure compliance with financial goals.
Job Evaluation & Salary Structure:
Conduct job evaluations and assign jobs to appropriate salary grades and ranges.
Assist in the development and maintenance of salary structures, ensuring they align with organizational strategy and market data.
Compliance & Legal:
Ensure compensation programs comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, Equal Pay Act, etc.).
Keep up to date on compensation laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Compensation Communication & Support:
Serve as a compensation subject matter expert to HR teams, leaders, and employees.
Provide guidance and support to managers and HR partners regarding compensation-related matters, including salary adjustments, bonuses, and incentive plans.
Assist in the communication of compensation changes and benefits to employees.
Special Projects:
Lead or participate in compensation-related projects such as compensation audits, system upgrades, or incentive program designs.
Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis to drive continuous improvement in compensation programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in compensation analysis, with a focus on complex compensation structures.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret compensation data and trends.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups).
Familiarity with compensation software and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP).
Knowledge of compensation laws and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with incentive and bonus plans.
Familiarity with data visualization tools and reporting software.
Certification (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional - CCP) is preferred but not required.
