Reports to: Technology Officer

Job Summary:

BB&N is seeking an inspiring technology leader excited to provide strategic and operational management to meet the diverse needs of an independent school. This director will understand the complex dynamics of planning, building, and supporting the IT needs of students, teachers, staff, IT personnel, and administrators. The position reports to the Technology Officer and manages data and systems impacting all campuses. This position works occasional evening or weekend hours as needed. This is a full-time 12-month exempt position.

Skills and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned technology leader with at least 5 years of experience as a System Administrator, configuring, maintaining, and updating servers and networks as well as serving as the primary Google Workspace for Education Administrator. They will be an innovative and collaborative professional who will provide leadership, management, and vision, with a proven record of accomplishment. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) certificate and experience as a Microsoft Azure Administrator (or equivalent) are required.

In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:

experience facilitating adult learning and nurturing a collaborative team environment

experience deploying and managing both Windows and Apple devices, certificates, automated profile enrollment, scripting, group policy, databases, and database administration

experience with project management, creating and maintaining change management processes and user-friendly documentation for complex systems

experience monitoring servers and installing patches and critical updates

experience writing cybersecurity plans for data backup, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity

experience with Active Directory, PowerShell, and Windows Server administration and MacOS shell scripting

experience with endpoint management (JAMF, Intune, MDMs)

experience configuring APIs, implementing SAML SSO, and MFA deployment

experience with Mac OS, Windows, JAMF, Microsoft 365, Google Apps, Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, Clever, Adobe suite

experience with audio mixer sound boards, microphones, and projection systems

ability to work independently and prioritize complex project-oriented work

ability to teach students and teachers how to solve problems

familiar with NIST framework

excellent oral and written communication skills, organization, and attention to detail

willingness to pitch in wherever needed and lead by example Essential Functions and Key Objectives:

1. Leader and Project Manager

As a leader, the Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity creates an environment where collaboration and creative problem-solving thrive. The Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity is an excellent communicator who instills enthusiasm in others by making them feel that they are important members of a team. This role supports the SIS Manager as well as the IT Help Desk Team and will be able to organize and manage multiple short- and long-term projects, nurture and support continued learning for the team, and ensure respectful and efficient customer service across our entire school.

The Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity demonstrates their role as a visible and active leader within the school community, an advocate for the appropriate use of technology, and a professional member of the school technology team by:

serving on decision-making teams in the school

collaborating with Technology Officer and Director of Infrastructure to implement cybersecurity best practices

collaborating with SIS Manager on Data Governance

collaborating with Director of Academic Technology to ensure students and teachers have access to educational technology needs

leading the IT Help Desk Team, supervising them and nurturing their growth and development to ensure outstanding customer service and impactful technology integration for meaningful student learning experiences

collaborating with Operations Teams (HR, Business Office, Facilities, Dining, Transportation) on projects involving of technology systems and software

facilitating faculty training and documentation for various educational systems and software

researching, implementing and maintaining a variety of complex IT systems to provide efficiencies of operation, security, redundancy, and robust productivity

managing partnerships and relationships with vendors and contractors

designing and delivering efforts that bring continuous improvement to the quality of network services and customer service for all BB&N constituents

maintaining active memberships in professional associations

remaining current in professional practices and development in technology and digital tools 2. System Administrator

As a SysAdmin, the Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity works to build and strengthen connections between technology tools and the academic experience at BB&N. The Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity demonstrates their role as the key leader in the systems management process by:

creating, maintaining, and monitoring system accounts and privileges for the various constituents at BB&N: students, faculty, staff, and administrators, particularly during onboarding and offboarding processes, including but not limited to:

Educational Technology apps, applications, and online tools

phone, emergency, and safety & security communication systems

Technology systems used within the Technology Department as well as by other teams (facilities, safety and security, transportation, dining, advancement, business office, and HR)

managing multiple internal and outsourced projects including the implementation of new software and systems

creating and maintaining detailed written documentation of applications and systems

ensuring the integrity of system and server backups and the health and integrity of backup routines

reviewing system logs and alerts to interpret events needing remediation

managing the audio-visual calendar for all school events and personnel assigned to them in order to ensure the success of AV at those events

overseeing Technology Help Desk ticket system

managing assets via a precise inventory that projects refresh dates based on device life cycles for budgetary purposes

collaborating with the facilities team and security team in building planning and operations 3. Cybersecurity Leader

As a Cybersecurity leader, the Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity provides leadership and expertise in the management of BB&N's approach to cybersecurity. The Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity will collaborate with the Technology Officer and Director of Infrastructure to create the vision for BB&N's cyber defense plans and ensure faculty and staff are trained and current on new and emerging cyber threats. The Director of IT Systems & Cybersecurity ensures that the school's cybersecurity is current and shared by:

developing and maintaining a collection of resources to support faculty and staff in cybersecurity awareness

ensuring appropriate safeguards to limit or contain the impact of cyberattacks

establishing systems and capabilities to detect cyberattacks and proactively monitoring systems and alerts

planning and executing activities to take action during a cybersecurity incident

restoring capabilities and services impacted by cyberattacks and identifying improvements to procedures and plans To Apply:
