OVERVIEW

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of projects, ensuring accurate billing, cost tracking, and compliance with accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity by collaborating with project managers, accounting teams, and stakeholders to facilitate accurate project reporting on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage complex financial data, analyze project costs, and ensure compliance with company policies and contractual requirements. They must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in Construction accounting software to optimize billing, reporting, and reconciliation processes.

Project Financial Management:

Manage job startups and closeouts within Sage 100 Contractor, ensuring proper documentation, financial accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.

Review and approve change order budgets for accuracy.

Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring adherence to AR billing metrics and timely collections.

Accurately record and categorize ACH, credit card, and cash deposits

Ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of project costs, including labor, materials, and expenses.

Collaborating with project teams to provide timely and accurate financial information.

Monitoring project progress, investigating variances, approving expenses, and issuing project billings to customers.

Provide support for internal and external audits

Knowledge of project related milestones

Monitoring credit card project allocation

Audit multiple projects at a time

Familiarity with accounting within a service department

Utilizing various vendor portals required for Client billing

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Proficiency in MS Excel (intermediate level), including data analysis and reporting required

Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail required

Experience with project-based accounting required

Solid understanding of construction billing procedures and compliance requirements required

Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based environment, required

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively, required

Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy required

Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required

Proficiency in working within a networked computer environment, including accounting and ERP systems required

Experience with Sage 100 Contractor or other ERP systems for financial management

Prior experience working in a team environment with at least five accounting staff

Background in a large construction company, with an understanding of industry-specific accounting practices

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position primarily operates within an office setting, designed as an open and collaborative space. The role involves a balance of independent work and teamwork, fostering a supportive environment to effectively address and fulfill internal/external customer requests.

COMPENSATION:

A reasonable estimate of the current hourly range for this position is $30-35 per hour. The actual amount offered within this range will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant job-related factors.Company Description
