Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled SaaS Controller to lead the financial operations of our rapidly growing software as a service (SaaS) business. This role will support the SVP of Finance in overseeing all aspects of the accounting/finance function. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, cash flow management, developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, and providing valuable financial insights to management. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, excellent analytical abilities, and the capacity to lead and mentor a team.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries and reconciliations.
Account Reconciliations: Review and approve complex account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead, participate in and contribute to the efficient and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
Internal Controls: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
Audit Support: Coordinate and support external audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations.
Accounting Policies and Procedures: Contribute to the development, documentation, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Financial Analysis: Assist in performing financial analysis, providing insights and recommendations to management.
System Implementation: Participate in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and other financial systems.
Mergers & Acquisition: Assist with the accounting integration, prepare and review JE’s and Balance sheet reconciliation related to the acquired entity and also, assist in the development of post-acquisition integration plan from an accounting perspective.
Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in various ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned by the SVP Finance.
Candidate Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
MBA, CMA or CPA certification strongly preferred.
6+ years of financial management experience. SaaS industry and experience with M&A transaction in not required but an added benefit.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis.
Proven ability to manage the month-end and year-end close processes effectively.
Experience with developing and implementing internal controls.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intaact, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials on a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
