TITLE: Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) Chair

QUALIFICATIONS: Special education teaching certification OR administrative certification that allows evaluation of special education staff. Master's Degree and three years of successful teaching experience preferred. Must have working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Must be knowledgeable in the various areas of due process including referral, timelines, ARC procedures, Least Restrictive Environments, etc.

REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Children Services

JOB GOAL: The ARC Chair will serve as the Principal's designee and district representative in Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meetings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Schedule ARC's (Admission Release Committee) according to procedures and timelines.

2. Chair all ARC's as the district representative.

3. Co-chair ARC's when the building principal wants to be involved.

4. Assist faculty and parents in referral procedures.

5. Assist with gathering assessment components, including behavioral observations,etc.

6. Collect data at the school level consisting of number of referrals, number of re-evaluations, number of ARC meetings, monthly suspension reports, effectiveness of special education programs, etc.

7. Input data at the school level into the district tracking system as well as state tracking system in Infinite Campus for Child Count, etc.

8. Provide in-service to faculty and staff on special education issues including confidentiality, Child Find, due process, eligibility, specific areas of disabilities, etc.

9. Complete due process forms correctly and accurately.

10. Attend district ARC Chair meetings and report information back to building principal and other ARC Chairs in assigned schools.

11. Maintain professional competency through professional development activities and/or other appropriate professional growth activities.

12. Adhere to Professional Code of Ethics as established by the Education Professional Standards Board.

13. Perform other duties as specified by the Director of Exceptional Children Services.
