Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Purlin Machine Operator to join our team on 1st and 2nd shift. You will operate machinery and equipment to fabricate metal material using complex machinery, as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency and help oversee operational activities and ensure excellent quality control.
Responsibilities:
Conducts safe operation and set-up of Roll Forming Mills, along with other manufacturing equipment in Panels Department.
Troubleshoot and may assist in repair of any mechanical failures.
Complete work orders and requests in a timely fashion
Operates computer programs that contain specifications that direct the machine to operate efficiently
Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams
Works independently and uses judgement to fabricate material
Load and unload equipment and materials
Operates overhead crane and forklift
Provide innovative solutions to improve plant efficiency
May assist with conducting routine preventive maintenance on equipment
Log and record readings for equipment and procedures
Will be responsible to keep visual production boards updated and maintain 5S standards in general work area
Adhere to safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Previous experience in production, metal manufacturing or other related fields
Min. 1 year of experience independently operating computer-controlled machine operation, including robotic, automatic or semi-automatic machines
Steel building manufacturing helpful
Familiarity with schematics and technical drawings
Familiarity with plant tools and equipment
Inspects raw material and finished product to ensure 100% quality
Attention to detail
Ability to handle physical workload
Variety of measuring tools including square, tape measure, caliper, micrometer, etc.
Variety of hand tools including grinder, hands free tooling, etc.
Computer skills, calculator and good math skills
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift min. 15 - 25 lbs.
