The Hanwha Aerospace USA Quality Engineer will be responsible for all activities associated with the Quality function reporting directly to the Quality Manager.

Location: Cheshire, CT

Reports to: Quality Supervisor

Responsibilities:

Ensure process and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed as necessary to maintain Quality System Approvals.

Lead / support internal and external audit activities (System, NADCAP, Customer, etc.) as required to meet requirements and maintain approvals.

Take necessary steps to ensure export compliance at all times and be cognizant of Export Control requirements and controls.

Drive robust RCCA process with real time daily stand up Quality reviews, Elephant chart non-conformance tracking and SPC data collection / actions.

Drive / support process improvements with on-time reporting of Quality KPI's - driving YOY improvements in quality performance

Manage all aspects of the Quality Planning / NPI / FAI process in line with the Quality NPI tracker to ensure on-time and completeness of Quality NPI requirements.

Review Contracts (Customer PO, requirements, and drawings specifications).

Review ballooned drawings and associated documents.

Gage reviews and special gaging requirements / purchase.

Gage R&R Studies.

Understand KPC's and develop SPC plan.

Create IMS & FAI templates in line with customer requirements.

Develop CMM Program using ballooned documents.

Validate and correlate CMM Program to IMS.

Secure special process approvals and NDT.

Coordinate customer submittals and approvals (Ex: ESA, VSE, DVI, PPAP)and utilize customer web portals.

Attend customer training / attain customer certification for self- release programs such as PWA DQR, GE DSQR.

Utilize statistical software(Prolink) to establish, analyze and address quality process control data.

Lead regular SPC review sessions with engineering and develop /implement action plans to drive continuous and sustainable process improvements.

Drive / support robust RCCA process to prevent re-occurrences and provide a positive effect on non-conforming inventory (MRB) as part of daily stand work.

Participate actively in the Company Continuous Improvement Program and Rapid Improvement Events (RIE's).

Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description.

Participate in training as required.

5-10% Domestic Travel required.

Required Qualifications:

Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related field required.

2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment required, aerospace preferred.

Demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

Demonstrate working knowledge of inspection techniques and quality engineering practices.

Possess understanding of data collection and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.

Possess good communication skills, capability of communicating effectively with engineers, shop personnel, management staff, suppliers and customers.

Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace experience preferred.
