Position Summary:
The Finisher is responsible for preparing fabricated metal parts and assemblies for final shipment or further assembly by removing imperfections and ensuring a smooth, clean finish according to company and industry standards. The Finisher plays a key role in the production of high-quality stainless-steel machinery components used in food processing.
Hours: 1st shift - 6:00AM - 4:30PM - Shift could be Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday.
2nd shift - 3:30PM - 2:00AM working Monday - Thursday.
Key Responsibilities:
Use hand tools, grinders, sanders, and polishing equipment to remove weld spatter, burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects.
Blend and finish stainless steel surfaces to meet required cosmetic and functional standards.
Perform surface preparation (e.g., deburring, sanding, bead blasting) on fabricated parts and weldments.
Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy; report any defects or inconsistencies.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and job travelers to determine finishing specifications.
Work closely with welders, machinists, and assemblers to ensure components are production-ready.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
Assist in other areas of the shop as needed (e.g., material handling, prep, packaging).
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
Prior experience in metal finishing or fabrication environment preferred.
Comfortable with wearing a full face shield and mask while working.
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic mechanical drawings.
Familiarity with stainless steel finishing techniques (e.g., #4 finish, grain matching) is a plus.
Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to learn and take direction in a team-oriented environment.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing facility environment with moderate noise, dust, and metalworking machinery.
Use of protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required.
