Position Overview: The Engineering Technician is responsible for efficiently sourcing and procuring Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials required to support ongoing operations. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the availability of necessary materials while optimizing costs. Primarily responsible for assisting the manufacturing engineering team with all engineering tasks associated with technical process development.

Responsibilities:

Process Documentation and Maintenance: Document new process developments and meticulously monitor and maintain manufacturing processes across diverse areas like assembly, soldering, coating, and related equipment.

Manufacturing Process Enhancement: Implement and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes for circuit board manufacturing and assemblies, consistently striving for optimization and efficiency.

Collaboration and Documentation Management: Interface with multiple departments to coordinate the smooth release of new products, while generating, implementing, and maintaining crucial manufacturing documentation including work instructions, lot travelers, and flow diagrams.

Problem-solving and Equipment Selection: Evaluate, troubleshoot, and recommend solutions related to manufacturing processes and systems, sometimes proposing equipment and tooling designs, ensuring their efficient setup, development, implementation, and maintenance.

Support and Compliance: Provide essential support to manufacturing efforts, proposing labor standards, cost estimates, capacity planning, and schedules, ensuring compliance with specifications through the review of technical data, blueprints, and schematics.

Continuous Improvement: Act as a champion for lean principles and 5S methodologies, driving key performance indicator (KPI) improvements based on comprehensive data analysis from Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data.

Education and Experience for the Engineering Technician:

Bachelors in technical discipline, prefer Industrial or Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 year’s direct industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while assisting with equipment programming, label design, and documentation updates.

Regularly moves within the manufacturing floor and engineering areas to assist with machine operations and support process development.

Frequently operates office and manufacturing equipment, including label printers and technical programming tools.

Occasionally positions self to access machinery and troubleshoot equipment issues at various heights.

Communicates effectively with engineering, maintenance, and production team members to support process improvements.

Occasionally moves and transports tools or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
