Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
Palladyne AI is looking for a Senior Software or Autonomy Engineer with an outstanding track record for the stage of your career to work on the development of advanced applications for collaborative autonomy involving robotic systems. Candidates must have the following skills, experience and qualifications:
MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, Mathematics or a related quantitative field
5+ years of work experience in one or more of computer vision, image processing, machine learning techniques for detection, tracking, classification/recognition using multi-modal sensory data, multi-task robot planning and scene reasoning in unstructured environments, reinforcement learning, motion planning, 3D vision (camera collaboration, structure from motion, stereo, 3D reconstruction) and deep learning (object recognition, object detection, 3D pose estimation)
Strong algorithm development experience
Strong skills with C++, Python, ROS2, CUDA
Experience leading a small team is preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving ability
Ability to think creatively and analytically and to problem-solve
Desire and ability to work well in a team environment
Excellent interpersonal skills
Flexibility and adaptability–a willingness to take on new or different responsibilities as needed
Willingness to receive and respond positively to feedback
You must be passionate about using your skills and experience to effectively collaborate with colleagues with a diverse set of engineering backgrounds to rapidly develop and bring to market powerful AI/ML software for autonomous robotic solutions.
Role/Responsibilities:
Develop innovative algorithms for perception (detection and localization of objects for manipulation and situational awareness), reasoning, and decision-making for robotic manipulators including industrial robots and cobots
Develop software codebase
Define database structures, identify data types for collection, and set up data analysis software
Write tests to validate system performance and compliance
Collaborate with autonomy and Software teams in an agile development environment
Provide reports and documentation as required for intellectual property filing and proposal preparation
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT and is not a remote position
Work is generally performed Monday through Friday, with the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
Safety awareness is essential at all times while in the work area
Must be able to stand and sit for extended times
Other:
Proof of right to lawfully work in the United States required.
This position requires access to export controlled technical data. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technical data prior to beginning work. Business demands may require Palladyne AI to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
