This position is Night Shift (7:00 pm-3:00 am) Monday - Friday

Position Summary – A Day in the Life

The Bakery Quality Assurance Technician ensures food safety and quality through verification and validation of Standard Operating Procedures and is responsible for reporting all food safety concerns immediately to the Manager of Quality Assurance. The Technician will also perform daily food safety and quality checks during production, including but not limited to pre-operational inspections, temperature, and quality checks, and verifying the CCP Monitor.

Job duties and responsibilities

Report all food safety concerns immediately to the Team Leader.

Complete pre-operational inspection of production line.

Perform food safety and quality checks throughout the shift.

Understand SQF Standard for Manufacturing and verify, validate, and document the SQF system.

Comply with and understand FSIS-USDA, FDA, and ODA regulations.

Understand and can perform all Food Safety activities including:

All HACCP, Food Safety and Critical Control Point activities.

Sample collection for microbial analysis (environmental swabs, water, ice, and finished product).

All Allergen and GFCO activities to include presence testing, supplier certification verification, and removal verification.

Audit and verify that SSOP activities meet sanitation standards through Pre-Operation Inspection and ATP testing/monitoring.

Verify quality documentation supporting finished customer specifications.

Adhere to and reinforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Understand and comply with all Safety Standard Operating Procedures.

Understand and comply with the Food Allergen Program.

Document and report any associate safety related issues.

Understand and comply with all responsibilities outlined in the Crisis Management Program.

Execute internal and external audits.

Perform product testing to ensure adherence to the product specification.

Audit production and packaging processes to ensure compliance with quality product specifications.

Assist with food safety, SQF, OSHA training with production personnel.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety requirements

Be aware of all safety guidelines (including by not limited to: LO/TO, HazCom Chemical Handling, Confined Spaces, PPE), and maintain a safe working environment at all times

Minimum requirements

The Bakery Line QA Technician must achieve HACCP Certification within 12 months of hire.

Education

High School degree or general education degree (GED).

Vocational training, bachelor’s degree preferred.

Working familiarity with MS Office Products required.

Excellent communications skills required, including active listening and effective speaking

Work Experience

Previous experience as quality technician in USDA and/or FDA-monitored facility preferred.

Completed coursework in Food Safety & Quality-related SQF programs preferred

Physical Requirements

Able to stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 32 to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit for an extended period of time.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs consistently.

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

Subject to extreme cold with temperatures typically below 32 for periods of more than one hour.

Hazard including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
