Office of Information Services

The Office of Information Services (OIS) works to support the business functions and the delivery of health, human, and employment services through the application of information technology. OIS supports the delivery of programs to millions of recipients through the development and round-the-clock operation of automated information systems. What You’ll Do

As a Middleware Administrator, you will be an influential technical leader with deep middleware & DevOps expertise and a collaborative style that promotes a culture of innovation and well managed excellence. You will be responsible for directing, monitoring, and managing middleware technology across several platforms, including (but not limited to):

Virtualized Infrastructure running various Unix, Linux, and AIX operating systems.

Redhat OpenShift Containerization Platform

IBM WebSphere (Traditional WAS, Liberty, Hybrid)

Adobe AEM

Mulesoft Anypoint Platform

Highly available vertical / horizontal scaling, disaster recovery capabilities

Single Sign On, network load balancer, firewall, IP subnets.

On-Prem monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace,

Cloud monitoring capabilities like Azure Monitor

CI/CD pipelines: Ansible, Jenkins, Nexis, Mavin, Bitbucket etc.)

Version control subsystem like: Git, Subversion, etc.

Websphere

Perform upgrades, patches, and fix security issues.

Monitor application performance, system performance, troubleshoot and diagnose issues and implement fixes.

Work closely with the development teams to design solutions, deploy and maintain application.

Install, configure and deploy new WebSphere application servers on AIX and Linux

Write and deploy shell scripts, automate tasks.

Troubleshoot, collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.

Participate in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies.

Cloud Management

Work with cloud platforms Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.

Deploy and manage application in a cloud environment.

Work with cloud vendors and cloud hosting service providers and recommend infrastructure solutions.

Schedule: 8 hour shift, between 7am-6pm as determined in consultation with supervisor, Monday through Friday. This position will be required to work outside normal work hours and scheduled shift in the event of emergencies and service outages.

Travel: No regular travel expected.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

OPTION 1:

60 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design

AND

12 months experience in the Integration Middleware (e.g., MQ Series, XML Gateway, Biztalk, JSON, JBoss, Mulesoft, etc)

Option 2:

42 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design

AND

Completion of Associate core program in Computer Science or Information Systems

AND

12 months experience in the Integration Middleware (e.g., MQ Series, XML Gateway, Biztalk, JSON, JBoss, Mulesoft, etc)

Option 3:

36 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating current IT policies, procedures and practices, recommending and/or leading IT driven change efforts, participating and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design

AND

Completion of undergraduate core program in Computer Science or Information Systems

AND

12 months experience in the Integration Middleware (e.g., MQ Series, XML Gateway, Biztalk, JSON, JBoss, Mulesoft, etc)

Or

Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 36. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $42.74 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
