Internship Overview
The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) is seeking two College Interns to join our Strategic Analytics team. As a college intern, you will have the opportunity to partake in important ODM initiatives and projects that relate to your field of study/academic major. In addition to gaining practical work experience, ODM offers flexible hours and a hybrid work schedule to support your academic requirements in conjunction with the needs of the agency.
Data Analytics Intern #1
Engaging in data profiling projects, most notably the Ohio Benefits (OB) Medicaid eligibility data to ensure completeness and consistency of the extracts for analytic use
Promoting efficient and accurate record processing
Organizing and creating training materials for various OB eligibility data extracts
Attending meetings and conference calls pertaining to state and/or federal reporting requirements
Assisting with other projects important to Ohio Medicaid programs
Preparing meaningful, concise & accurate reports; Presenting findings
Data Analytics Intern #2
Contribute to the Maternal Mortality Project by analyzing data to assess maternal mortality rates among Ohio Medicaid enrollees and identifying actionable factors to inform initiatives and legislation aimed at reducing mortality rates.
Maintain and update maternal mortality datasets, integrating new data sources.
Identify and resolve outstanding dataset errors, including discrepancies in tenure variable counts.
Support ad-hoc projects that align with ODM’s strategic goals.
Assist in designing, refining, and validating predictive models to analyze maternal mortality trends.
Conduct thorough literature reviews to ensure evidence-based models align with best practices.
Evaluate GRC dashboards for actionable metrics that support maternal mortality analysis.
Summarize findings and translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
Prepare presentations and reports to share progress and findings with stakeholders.
Organize and document materials to ensure seamless project handovers and ongoing success.
Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
Preferred academic majors include Data Analytics, Computer Science, Informatics, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Mathematics, or similar field of study.

Conceptual knowledge or experience in any of the following areas is strongly preferred:
