Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, recruit and engage with Monterey Bay Aquarium volunteers and interns. Team with Volunteer Engagement staff to achieve and maintain a robust and successful volunteer program and to successfully recruit and onboard interns to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Coordinate training and support technological innovation, data collection, and review. Perform other duties as required.
Core Activities:
Prepare all materials related to volunteer recruitment, both external and internal.
Define volunteer position requirements in collaboration with Aquarium staff.
Update volunteer content and requirements and submit to Marketing in support of recruitment cycle promotion material (e.g. Aquarium website, advertising, postings throughout the community, public service announcements).
Coordinate recruitment informational meetings and training sessions, inviting staff to present information on their areas and overseeing the interview process for volunteer candidates. Create master calendar that includes dates and (internal/external)( locations for recruitment informational meetings.
Create and generate Volgistics reports for the analysis of volunteer trends, leveraging the VE shift needs assessment.
Disseminate and provide follow-up on background check procedures and protocols for applicants.
Maintain Volgistics database and/or other volunteer data management tools. May also include implementation of new features.
Respond to volunteer inbox and serve as principal contact for volunteer inquiries.
Serve as principal recruitment contact for general volunteer and intern program and staff needs.
Conduct internship intake meetings and the creation of jobs and posting of jobs in UKG for internships.
Undertake internship hiring duties, conducting verbal and written offers, prescreening and other hiring responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
College degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Ability to handle confidential situations and information
Experience in recruitment and/or volunteer management
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong Microsoft Office, database software, and web skills
Ability to set priorities and multi-task in an active office environment
Ability to work efficiently, independently, as well within a team
Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday schedule; evenings and/or holidays as required
Work independently, making judgments and decisions based on Aquarium policy and procedure
Minimum of three years supervisory experience, strongly desired
Ability to work within, and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium's Core Values

Hourly Compensation Range:
$27.50 - $31.73 Starting rate will vary based on previous experience and relevant skills/knowledge set
