Authorization Coordinator - Coordinated Care
Job Summary:
Works very closely with coordinated care department leadership team to complete chart audits, ensure regulatory compliance of conditions of participation. Communicates with coordinated care staff on any requested payor communication requests to ensure timely submission of clinical information for reimbursement; monitors denials to assist in facilitation of per to peer review for overturn of concurrent denials.
Education & Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: NA
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Time management, proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft office, Vizio, Excel skills or other computer related skills. Ability to read handwritten or typed information, write, comprehend and use verbal communication. Ability to operate computer keyboard with data entry skills, ability to operate fax machine, ability to operate telephone/cell phone.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Audits important message from Medicare (Adults, pediatrics, Grenada & Holmes county)
Conducts chart reviews/audits (Adults, pediatrics, Grenada & Holmes county)
Monitors and tracks outside turn a round time on outside agency referrals on inpatients.
Monitors and tracks long term acute care referrals.
Denials management (Adults, pediatrics, Grenada & Holmes county)
Audits medicare observation notice compliance (Monitors BCBS high trim report length of stay report (Adults, pediatrics, Grenada & Holmes county)
Monitors BCBS high trim report length of stay report (Adults, pediatrics, Grenada & Holmes county)
Prepares census/discharge reports for morning huddle.
Updates and fax clinical to insurance companies; updates ins account info in EPIC for authorized and denied days. Collaborates with staff to facilitate record submissions to pay or and coordination peer to peer for overturn of denial.
Insurance communication and notification of discharge and authorizations.
