POSITION CONCEPT:
This position provides strategic and functional leadership and direction to a consolidated team of engineers and specialists that provide; engineering, reliability analysis, new site integration and project management support to the department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the overall delivery of engineering within the department including the reliability program, reliability engineering support within the department as required to identify and develop engineering solutions to maintain and improve the overall facility’s reliability, resiliency, efficiency, safety and environmental performance.
Responsible for the integration of all new solar and energy storage sites including but not limited to engineering, design and contract input, QA/QC inspections during construction, set up of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) hierarchy equipment and planned maintenance schedules, training, spare parts and tools, generation forecasting, PV Syst modelling, review of NERC compliance requirements, O&M manuals, O&M procedures, RCC integration, and other integration requirements to turn over to the department.
Responsible for the department’s management of projects to upgrade, enhance and replace systems as identified and approved within the budget to meet the department’s requirements for reliability, efficiency safety and environmental performance.
Maintain a culture of World Class Safety, ensuring team members utilize and adhere to all applicable policies, practices, and compliance standards. Purposefully and actively engage employees/contractors on safety related items to promote awareness, risk identification and mitigation, and continued improvement to achieve a workplace where no one is injured.
Maintains a highly efficient and highly motivated work force, committed to the safe, reliable design, construction, and operation of power generation equipment and systems. Develop staff through coaching, performance management, career planning, training, special assignments, and cross training. Maintain a current succession plan for assigned staff.
Ensure design and construction compliance with all applicable codes, standards, best practices, laws, and operational parameters/constraints while Providing construction and field support, change management support and guidance, QA/QC oversight
Assist with the management of expenditures within the development and execution of O&M and Capital budget for the department and the department’s 10-year capital budget.
Work with Managers, Engineers, Technical staff, and all Supervisors to maximize the Department’s safety, environmental, efficiency, reliability, and sustainability performance.
Performs other related duties and services as assigned by the Director.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited University
Preferred: Graduate technical degree, Electrical Engineering Degree, MBA or advanced management training desirable
LISCENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida is desirable
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 5 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of; power generation or related heavy industrial experience in the areas of project engineering, maintenance, outage management and / or project management.
Preferred: 7 years experience directly related to power generation facility construction, maintenance, project management, and engineering in progressively more responsible roles.
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Required: 5 years directly or indirectly supervising professional and technical staff
Preferred: 5 years of direct supervision of engineering and technical professionals
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Strong organizational and project management skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and skill in applying solid judgement. Strong knowledge of engineering standards and principles related to power generation, design codes, materials and their applications, and utility business economics. The ability to effectively lead and motivate teams/individuals to meet company and department goals along with personal and career development goals is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment with frequent power generation facility visits and walkdowns of generating equipment and construction sites. Respond to related storm duties.
Respond to power station needs with 24/7 coverage as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to work in a dusty, hot, and noisy environment.
Must be able to work from elevated platforms.
Must be able to ascend and descend from ladders and stairs.
Frequent driving between facility locations.
