Windows Systems Administrator

We are seeking a talented and experienced Windows Systems Administrator with a strong background in managing Windows-based environments and the expertise to seamlessly transition Managed Service Provider (MSP) responsibilities in-house.

Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor the company’s systems and network infrastructure, including workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

Perform routine system maintenance tasks, such as software installations, updates, and patches.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Windows-based infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.

Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting to address issues promptly.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and support new technologies aligned with business objectives.

MSP Transition:

Evaluate existing MSP relationships and identify opportunities for bringing specific functions in-house.

Develop and execute a comprehensive transition plan, ensuring a smooth transfer of responsibilities and minimal disruption to operations.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure a seamless integration of systems, processes, and data.

Infrastructure Management:

Design, implement, and manage Windows-based infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, and network components.

Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and implement proactive measures to enhance overall efficiency and reliability.

Security and Compliance:

Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to Windows systems and data security.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Develop and update documentation related to the MSP transition process, ensuring a knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related work experience.

Minimum of 7+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.

Demonstrated expertise in transitioning MSP services in-house, including project management and stakeholder communication skills.

Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Collaborate with the IT team to plan and execute technology projects, such as system upgrades and implementation of policy-based security infrastructure.

Provide technical support to end-users, both on-site and remote, and ensure prompt resolution of IT-related problems.

Create and maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting guides, and asset tracking. Business continuity plans to minimize disruptions in the event of system failures or disasters.

Strong knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux(a plus) operating systems.

Strong knowledge of Azure DC user management and policy management

Proficiency in planning, implementing, and managing cloud/virtualized technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, SharePoint, etc.).

SQL Server Administration a huge plus

Experience with network infrastructure and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).

Familiarity with storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions.

Knowledge of security best practices and tools for system hardening.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are a plus.

Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; experience at building effective working relationships throughout the organization.

Proactive, self-starter able to jump in, ramp-up without a lot of oversight and minimal direction.

Must have ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals
