Job Title: Carpenter

Department Group: Construction

Reports to: Primary - Superintendent

Secondary - General Superintendent

Position Type: Full-Time

Role and Responsibilities:

The role of the Carpenter is to assist the Superintendent in expediting the building aspects of each project in order to meet budget, quality, time and safety objectives. The carpenter is a craftsman with a skill level greater than a helper or laborer, but less than a lead carpenter.

Carpenter Job Duties:

Assist the Superintendent with a variety of tasks throughout the construction phase of a project, including but not limited to mobilizing, expediting, errands, and de-mobilizing.

Assist during the punch-list and close-out process through owner/architect acceptance.

Additional Specific Duties to Include but Not Limited to:

Main Office Facility Maintenance

Handle routine maintenance items and/or cleaning as requested.

Periodic power-washing of building, roof and common, outside areas.

Assist office staff during set-up and/or break-down of company sponsored events.

Client Loyalty

Understand the owners goals regarding construction.

Maintains positive relationships with the owner and architect throughout the project(s).

Maintain positive relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Safety

Insure job safety requirements are understood and implemented by all project personnel and trade contractors. Continually strives for Zero Incidents on all projects.

Attend all on-site safety meetings.

Review the trade contractors safety program and MSDS information in the trade contractor start-up meeting.

Watch for and correct all safety hazards at the jobsite. Report all safety incidents to Project Manager and main office.

OSHA 30 certification to be attained within four (4) months of hire date (company will provide class)

Attend Quarterly Safety Meetings.

Planning and Construction (With the Superintendent):

Assist in the coordination of procurement delivery, storage and usage of materials and tools as needed.

Assist during the punch-list process and close-out procedures as directed by the Superintendent.

Order and procure miscellaneous small materials required for project with coordination of the Superintendent.

Maintain knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control and safety.

Maintain good working relationship with all subcontractors on the project.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two to Five years of experience in commercial construction projects.

Ability to work under pressure under time deadlines.

Must have a good command of the English language.

Must be able to:

Work with power and hand tools, carry lumber and materials.

Climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work.

Lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs. for 50 feet.

Work outside for extended periods.

Organize assigned tasks for completion alone or with help.

Complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets in a timely manner.

Must have specific carpentry skills, including but not limited to:

Rough carpentry

Finish carpentry

Concrete work

Door and door hardware installation and adjustment

Painting

Drywall repair

Minor electrical

Minor mechanical

Minor plumbing

Acoustical ceiling

Lull operation certificate to be attained as soon as possible after hire (company will provide class)

Additional Notes

99% of time is spent working outside on active construction job sites.

Some driving is required. (Job-related mileage will be reimbursed).

The use of all appropriate and/or mandated safety equipment is required.

Must have own tools.

Must have a reliable vehicle with valid drivers license and clean driving record.

Must be able to pass a drug test and a Level 2 background check.
