Wet End Operator

This is a graveyard position.
This can be a Temp-to-Hire Position or a training opportunity for an internal Employee. The associate will safely, accurately, and efficiently learn both wet and dry end functions of the position to understand the complete process.
Essential Duties
• Regular and timely attendance as scheduling requires. Overtime, call-in, and weekend work may be required. Provide production support to any of the three shifts as scheduling requires.
• Always observe and comply with all company and/or regulatory agency safety and environmental rules, including wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by Company policy or Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Read, understand, and follow all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) instructions for chemicals used in the conversion process.
• Assist WE Operators 1 and 2 in tending and troubleshooting their machines.
• Assist WE Operator 1 in converting raw materials into the appropriate pulp slurry in as many as 3 hydro pulpers (beaters):
• Following specified formulas, add the specified quantities of newspaper, kraft, wax, or other specified paper types to a bin. Ensure the weight of the paper matches the formula specification. Using a forklift, empty these bins into the appropriate beater, add the specified quantities of chemicals and water in the beater and operate the beater to pulverize the mixture into a pulp 'beat' within specified parameters.
• Operate controls and timers to properly control pumps, motors, and water or chemical transfer systems.
• Perform any required analytical testing procedures on the slurry and take appropriate remedial actions based on the results of those tests.
• Measure and record the pH of the beat and add required ingredients, chemicals, or water to adjust beat pH until it is within specifications.
• Upon reaching specified consistency and pH levels, pump pulp beats to the appropriate tank.
Requirements
• 1-year experience as an operator in a production environment, particularly operating programmable logic controller equipment (PLCs) a plus.
• 1-year experience as a forklift operator.
• Highly developed mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and problem resolution skills.
• Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability, and desire to work well with others in a team environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
• Basic mathematical aptitude and skills; English writing skills.
• Reliable attendance.
