Audit Specialist

Job Description

We are partnering with a local Waltham MA bank to find their next Auditor. Under the supervision of the Audit Manager, this position is responsible for conducting financial, operational, compliance, and follow-up audits across various areas of bank operations—including retail banking, deposit operations, lending, pension trust, information systems, accounting, and affiliated entities—in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. Key responsibilities include analyzing and documenting process flows to identify control deficiencies, performing risk assessments, developing test plans, and assisting with audit planning and objective setting. The role involves preparing clear audit work papers and reports, verifying compliance with key controls, managing audit tasks within allocated timeframes, and maintaining professional relationships with employees and customers. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Bachelors degree in a business related field, preferably Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or Audit.

Minimum of 3+ years of related experience in an audit firm and/or organization; bank experience a plus.

Knowledge of and/or experience with general IT controls preferred.

Basic understanding of bank operations.

Strong working knowledge of Windows – Word, Excel, etc. and the ability to learn new digital platforms.

Strong statistical analysis skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments and projects.

Ability to travel freely among all banking locations.

Willingness to pursue certification in the field of Auditing (CIA)
