BAE Norfolk Ship Repair is seeking a qualified mechanic to assist with the Facilities maintenance in the Boiler/Compressor Division.
Key Responsibilities & Functional Knowledge:
This list is representative of the key areas of responsibility and functional knowledge required of a first class mechanic in the Weld shop. A first class mechanic must demonstrate an advance knowledge of the skills, functional knowledge and abilities required to perform tasks in these and related areas of responsibility.
Advance knowledge means that the mechanic understands how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them independently, without assistance. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks.
Compressor/Boiler Room:
Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the safe operation and maintenance of High Pressure Compressed air, High Pressure Steam boiler systems and associated auxiliary systems.
These duties include:
Air Compressor Operating Procedures and Maintenance
Boiler Operating and Maintenance
Fueling
Salt Water Pump Maintenance
Fresh Water Booster Pump Operating Procedures and Maintenance
Boiler Feedwater Analysis
Fire Pump Operating Procedures
Visible Emission Evaluator (Opacity Certified)
Data Stream MP2 User
And various yard facilities upgrade projects
