Speech-Language Pathologist
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Valid N.Y.S. teaching certificate in the Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped/ Speech and Language Disabilities area
QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED:
1. A N.Y.S. licensed and registered Speech Pathologist (strongly preferred)
2. Prior experience working in a school setting
3. Ability to elicit diagnostic information from individual students regarding their communication skills and monitor the progress of individual students using various assessment strategies.
4. Desire and knowledge to balance students' social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs.
5. Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff and students
6. Desire and ability to work collaboratively with an academic team including an interdisciplinary approach to lesson design.
7. Knowledge of strategies in the areas of literacy and writing
8. Knowledge and Evidence of therapy planning using several different types of learning and opportunities for differentiated instructional outcomes as well as assessments to adjust therapeutic approach or instructional plan as needed for individual students
9. Uses varied instructional methods and assessments to support:

10. Evidence of behavior management with an emphasis on student engagement and student success in the classroom and/or therapy setting.
