Position Summary
As a CDL Delivery Driver at Hartville Hardware, you are responsible for ensuring that building materials, hardware, and lumber reach our customers and job sites safely and on time. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to handle and unload materials efficiently. Every day presents a new opportunity to navigate different routes, interact with customers, and contribute to keeping projects on track with reliable deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Safe Driving and Delivery:
Operate company vehicles (flatbeds, box trucks, or other CDL-class vehicles) in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
Deliver orders to customers' homes, businesses, or job sites, ensuring accuracy and on-time performance.
Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
Customer Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service by delivering materials with a professional and courteous demeanor.
Address customer questions or concerns and escalate issues to the appropriate team member when needed.
Material Handling:
Load and unload products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual lifting.
Verify delivery accuracy by cross-checking items with invoices or packing slips.
Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections:
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance or repair needs.
Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of assigned vehicles.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to job site safety rules.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
Team Support:
Collaborate with team members to improve delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction. Qualifications
Licensing:
Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
DOT Medical Certificate required.
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred.
Experience with flatbed trucks and forklift operation is a plus.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
Ability to read maps, GPS systems/smart phones, and delivery instructions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
