Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
5 to 10 years of progressively responsible related experience that includes significant management and supervisory experience within an economic development organization is preferred.
Strong experience in market research, data analysis, and strategic marketing within an economic development context is preferred.
A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. Additional Requirements
Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification is preferred.
The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
Requires some travel, and the incumbent must maintain a valid passport for international travel.
Requires working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include nights and weekends.
Requires frequent contact with the city's executive leadership team, EDA, business community, the Hampton Roads Alliance, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, and other governmental agencies. Click for complete job description
