Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Client: Food Manufacturing Company
Duration: 7 months
Location: Elk River, MN 55330
Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM 3:00 PM CST (occasional Saturdays, maybe 1 day a month for a half day)
The Laboratory Technician will complete routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety, quality, and operational teams.
We are looking for a hardworking person who will:
Perform routine analysis of product testing
Be responsible for checking and monitoring instrumentation performance
Conduct tests under intermediate supervision
In this role, you will:
Document results into databases and/or communicate test results
Help develop food/feed safety, quality, and regulatory culture by collaborating cross-functionally
Build, maintain, and improve an effective food safety, quality, and regulatory culture
Run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks, and simple repairs on analytical instrumentation
Maintain up-to-date customer specifications books
Interpret and document results of tests into active databases
Communicate results to internal customers as required
Ensure compliance for all individual testing
Monitor adherence to regulations and procedural food safety compliance
Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests independently on raw materials, in-process, and final products
Support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision
Handle clerical, administrative, technical, or customer support issues under general supervision
Escalate more complex issues to appropriate staff
Read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals)
Write routine reports and correspondence
Additional Requirements
Must complete: Background check and drug test only
Position Overview
Responsible for the daily management of laboratory samples and document retention systems. Supports the processing team in sample preparation and analysis of forage samples.
Principal Accountabilities
Duties include (but not limited to):
Support processing teams with sample processing and testing
Tasks: sample grinding, NIR scanning, labeling, and weighing
Participate in lab housekeeping program and follow designated policy
Maintain a proactive focus on workplace safety and show initiative to work safely and follow policy
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and associated tools

Education
High School Diploma Required
Miscellaneous Position Notes
Leather shoes are required for laboratory work. Contractors must have adequate footwear before starting.
Contact lenses are not allowed in the laboratory.
Various ingredient samples handled may contain allergens:
Milk, peanuts, eggs, tree nuts, soy, gluten, fish, shellfish
A clean shave is required for tasks involving respirator use
