Purpose:
The primary function of this position is to assist in conducting microbiological and chemical testing of food product. In addition, they will assist with various companywide projects related food safety and quality.
Reports to:
Laboratory Supervisor
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Apply aseptic technique in specific aspects of work
Conduct chemical testing of food product
Inventory and report status of consumables (e.g. supplies)
Conduct routine preventive maintenance and sanitize laboratory equipment
Critically analyze data and enter in LIMS database
Prepare and maintain swab rotations.
Assist with investigational studies
Follow all laboratory safety guidelines
Share information & collaborate co-workers in an open and timely manner
Conduct equipment calibration activities
Lead by example to ensure the actions of other services employees support our goals for quality, quantity, and safety.
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalent, college degree in microbiology preferred. Relevant work experience and proven skills will be considered in lieu of education.

Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as business demands
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Computer skills required, including Outlook and Excel, data collection and Trending.
Demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Basic understanding of Quality Control Laboratory equipment & methodologies
Working Conditions:
Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time
Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing.
Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.
May be exposed to stressful situations.
May be required to work additional hours/overtime without advance notice.
Seeing, hearing and speaking clearly in order to communicate effectively.
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
In the absence of this position, the Laboratory Manager shall cover the duties.
